Help us "Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful" this Gasparilla!

Ahhhh, Gasparilla…. It is almost time for the pirates to invade Tampa Bay!  This Gasparilla, Pepin Distributing is proud to sponsor the “Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful” initiative.

“Recycling, responsible consumption of alcohol and overall responsible behavior has been the key initiatives since Budweiser and Pepin Distributing Company agreed to be a presenting sponsor of Gasparilla” said Tom Pepin, CEO of Pepin Distributing Company.

Since 2009, Pepin has supplied hundreds of recycling bins for the parade route and initiated the “Responsibility is the key” program.

Our new partnership with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful is a major step in doing an even better job with the recycling effort for the 2012 parade” said Tom Pepin.

If imagining litter from the Gasparilla Pirate Festival makes you say, “Argh!” in frustration, Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful would love to have you on its cleanup crew.

Formed in 1989, this volunteer organization is the local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. It organizes local efforts of the International Coastal Cleanup, the Hillsborough River and Waterways Cleanup, and other beautification programs in neighborhoods. It also focuses on litter prevention, recycling awareness, and environmental stewardship and education.

This year the organization is partnering with the City of Tampa and Pepin Distributing Company to help “green up” Gasparilla, scheduled for Jan. 28. According to VolunteerMatch.org, the group needs volunteers to collect recyclable material and litter from the crowd as the krewes and floats charge north on Bayshore Boulevard.

Volunteers are needed from 11am to 4pm on parade day and would meet at 4900 Bayshore Blvd. Seniors and groups in particular are encouraged to apply.
